Did you know that 70% of online shoppers use their mobile devices as their preferred medium to shop1 ? Whether just researching, checking the current stock of a vehicle, customizing their own personal car, or even booking a test drive, it is highly likely they’re doing so with a smartphone.

From a Luxury to a Necessity

Only a few short years ago, it was commonplace to have a clunky website, with little to no consideration put into mobile devices. Times are changing rapidly, however, with e-commerce completely decimating the in-person retail experience, with everyone being forced to move online during the pandemic. Beyond this, the rise of digital-only car marketplaces, most notably Carvana, which exploded onto the scene in 2019, has pushed dealers across the globe to pivot to a more digitally focused strategy. This, in combination with mobile phones becoming both more powerful and more prevalent in everyday life, forces dealers to either evolve with the times or get left in the dust.

Is your Current Website Mobile Friendly?

Not sure if your website is designed with mobile in mind? Here are a few telltale signs that you are on the right track.

  • Fast Loading Times

Is your website fully loading in under 3 seconds? A slow website will lead to much higher bounce rates, especially on mobile.

  • Intuitive Navigation Across Site

Are your buttons on your mobile site large, and is your site still easy to navigate? Accessibility is extremely important in the e-commerce space, as if someone can’t navigate your site, they may not be able to find the product they’re looking for and go elsewhere.

  • Simple Lead Forms with Support for Autofill

Part of giving users a great experience is doing as much as you can for them and having them put in minimal effort. Autofill lead forms can greatly reduce friction, as many people will be able to put their information into your system in less than 5 taps.

  • Clickable Contact Information

Ensuring that users can make calls, send emails, and find out where your office is located in a single press is a surefire way to keep leads engaged and lower bounce rates using simple ‘tel:’, ‘mailto:’, and ‘geo:’ links.

In Conclusion

If you are able to accomplish these things, you can be confident that your website is keeping up with the evolving needs of customers. Otherwise, here are some steps you can take to better develop your website.
